‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director

Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt prepared to express about his deep grief.

"Enough time has elapsed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced spending more time together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."

The actor uploaded archival material from the movie, remarking that he cannot recall "one day without mirth".

"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes continued.

He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."

Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator

In a distinct tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.

"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.

This week, a Los Angeles judge decided to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.

A legal directive issued a security hold on the investigation to limit the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" associated with the ongoing investigation.

The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the result of homicide, with a public database listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
