Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the the regime, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
